Frequently Asked Questions

What is a giclee print?

Giclee (pronounced “zhee-clays”) is a French term meaning “to spray”, referring to how an inkjet printer produces the print (fine, precise, and color-matched spray patterns), which gives greater detail to the final image.

Open (unlimited) edition vs limited edition?

Open (unlimited) editions - the number of prints that can be created and sold is unlimited.

Limited editions - the number of prints that will be printed is carefully chosen and no more can be created after they are all sold.

Types of paper

Photographic Prints are traditional Photographic Prints. They are printed by exposing light sensitive paper with light and then running the paper through a chemical process. There is no ink involved in the process. These prints can be described as Silver Halide Photographic Prints, Chromogenic Photographic Prints or C-Prints.

We offer two types of Giclee Fine Art Prints made with Epson Ultrachrome HDR inks:

Deep Matte paper has no sheen or finish on the surface and has an extremely low-reflection property. It is a smooth, neutral-white, matte paper. This paper has a soft feel to it, like a poster, the white makes the colors pop.

Somerset Velvet is a 100% cotton, acid-free paper that delivers long-lasting prints. Its elegant texture (similar to watercolor paper, but lighter), allows for more pigment to be absorbed. This paper is a closer look to a canvas, the satin white, gives the colors a softer appearance.

Archival Quality Prints

All of our prints are archival quality prints. The pricing difference is due to differences in cost of production between the two production lines.
